Moving to Fort Hood!

"Launch Into The Deep...

And Let Your Nets Down For a Catch." Lk. 5:38

In July of 2018, I felt God’s word telling me to “push out into the deep” just as Jesus told Peter in Lk. 5:36-38. This was the first verse I felt God telling me it was time to leave Ft Bliss and pioneer a new ministry. After visiting Fort Benning and Fort Hood, I heard God leading me to Fort Hood. When I visited here in Oct of 2018, and on my last day God confirmed my coming to Ft Hood with Mk 1:38 where Jesus’ disciples are looking for Him and Jesus responds with, “I must preach at these other villages also, for that is why I was sent.” I also read in that same quite time Gen 34:10 Where God tells Moses, “Behold, I make a covenant. Before all your people I shall do a work that has not been done in all the Earth or in any nation. And all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord, for it is an awesome thing I will do with you!” These two verses along with some godly counsel set my course for Fort Hood. However, what I did not expect was the Sabbatical God would lead me to before my arrival to Ft. Hood. After I finished my company command time in the Reserves, while serving as the Navigator Base Director at Bliss, I felt I needed a break. One of my friends and fellow staff, knowing my history suggested a full on 3-6 month sabbatical. I trusted that counseling and did so in Colorado Springs where the Nav HQ is along with other family and friends. This was more than just a taking a break from ministry, but also a time of allowing some wounds to heal from my past. The Sabbatical had its peaceful moments and also some great experiences in my soul connecting with Jesus, but the majority of it was a deep wrestling of faith in God and His reality in my life. As the sabbatical drew to a close, I heard Jesus speak, “let down your nets for a catch.” I realized then and there that I would indeed be heading to Hood in just a short while. I landed in Ft Hood on Dec 2 2019, but only to leave shortly for an Israel trip I had planned a year back. When I landed here, My first quiet time was in John 21 where Peter is fishing with several of the disciples. Jesus asks, “Have you caught anything?” “No Peter replies.” Throw your net on the other side of the boat.” They did so and brought in a net full of fish both small and large.” John leans over to Peter and says, “it is the Lord.” This last line caught my souls attention. What a beautiful contrast to Luke 5! Luke 5’s fishing passage ends with Peter saying, “away from me, for I am a sinful man.” But In John 21, Peter throws himself into the water to swim to Jesus! I’m still figuring out how to hear God, but this passage with the emphasis on “it is the Lord” was confirmation enough for that I had made the right choice in coming to Fort Hood.

It has taken some time to build this blog and so some new updates will hopefully be coming out right behind this. Wrestling with God still continues, but I’ve enjoyed some sweet prayer walks on base and God has brought specific people to help me. My hope is that these posts will be a better way to connect with you. Until next post, blessings to you. I lift each of your souls to the Lord!
